Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask before they try it. Still stuck? There's a contact link at the bottom.
The basics
What is My Flippin' TV?
It's a Windows app that turns your own movies, shows, and music into live TV channels — always running, with commercial breaks and station branding, just like real television. You flip to a channel and something's already playing.
Is it a subscription?
No. MFTV is a one-time purchase of $24.99. Pay once, use it forever — no monthly fee, no account, no cloud.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — a 14-day trial with every feature unlocked. Try it on your own library before you pay a cent.
What do I get for $24.99?
The full Windows version, a lifetime license, and free major updates. One payment, and it's yours.
Do I need anything else?
Do I need Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby?
No. MFTV doesn't need any other media server. It reads your files directly — nothing else to install or run alongside it.
Do I need Docker or any setup like that?
No. There's no Docker, no config files, no server to stand up. Install it, point it at your media, and you're broadcasting.
Do I need my own media?
Yes. MFTV builds channels from the movies, shows, and music you already own. It doesn't come with content — it turns your collection into TV.
Does it move, rename, or change my files?
No. MFTV reads your media where it already lives. It never touches, renames, or reorganizes the files themselves.
Watching
Can I watch on other devices?
Yes. MFTV runs on your Windows PC and streams to any device on your network — open a channel in the browser on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Everyone can watch a different channel at once.
Can I watch it on my TV?
Yes. Connect your PC to the TV, and your channels are on the big screen.
Can I pause or rewind?
No — and that's on purpose. MFTV works like real TV: you watch what's on, or you flip the channel. No pause, no rewind, no menu to browse. It's the whole idea.
How do I change channels?
With a remote. Scan a QR code and your phone becomes the clicker — channel up, channel down, like the real thing.
Buying & system
What do I need to run it?
A Windows 10 or 11 PC (64-bit). It's light — it was built and tested on a decade-old laptop.
Is it available for Mac or Linux?
Not yet. Windows is the launch platform. Mac and Linux may come later.
How do I get my license after buying?
Your license key is emailed to you right after purchase. Enter it once to activate.
What's your refund policy?
That's what the 14-day trial is for — try everything before you buy, so you know exactly what you're getting.
